To my mind and my heart there is a reason I happened to find you and you so graciously accepted my request allowing a mutually respectful exchange and a willingness to share knowledge that I will treasure . I was up quite late last night (3:00 am) and you were also on my mind so I found information about the history and origin of the "Ghost Walker Dance" which included a photo of of if my memory serves me correctly was that of a group of Lakota Sioux gathering in a circle preparing for the Ghost Dance ceremonial rite. I don't often share my own spiritual beliefs which on my profile is simply listed as Christian to avoid conflict as the Internet is for those of us walking through this life together at the same point in time a medium that allows a rapid and efficacious way to spread hateful messages instead of recognizing what a gift it is that the people we see everyday are indeed our brothers and sister sharing the journey therefore no one is a stranger. I love greetings which convey what used to to be innate knowledge, for instance Namaste which roughly translates I honor the divine in you the same holds true when you send your love an blessings of the sacred nine streams and four holy directions with fire and water. I bow to you too. Please know when I paint any subject matter that is based in Native American history, mythology, symbolic meaning, etc.I put much effort into research in order to produce an image that is accurate, honorable and engaging enough for the viewer to provoke further inquiry thereby keeping them alive for another generation to treasure. I ask for any guidance or correction if I have misrepresented symbolic meaning in my work for to my mind if one is working from a place of honor and integrity there is nothing more offensive to my aesthetic sensibilities than a bastardized stereotypical attempt of artistic work that is on par with Tonto and the Lone Ranger!

I have read several versions of the three sisters one of which is similar in that the Creator bestowed each with an equal part in sustaining the crop but was not aware of the no face doll which teaches yet another essential lesson in this life.

Legend of the No Face Doll The Iroquois people have what they call the three sisters, the sustainers of life. These sisters are call corn, beans, and squash. The corn Spirit so thrilled at being one of the sustainers of life that she asked the Creator what more she could do for her people. The Creator said that a beautiful doll could be formed from her husks. So the Creator set to work forming the doll. When finished he gave the doll a beautiful face, and sent it to the children of the Iroquois people to play with, and to make them happy. The doll went from village to village playing with the children and doing whatever she could for the children. Everywhere she went everyone would tell her how beautiful she was, so after a while she became vain. The Creator spoke to her and explained that this was not the right kind of behavior, and she agreed not to be this way anymore. The Creator explained that if she continued with this behavior, then he would have to punish her, but he would not tell her how he would punish her. She agreed not to act this way anymore, and things went on as before. One afternoon she was walking by a creek and glanced into the water. As she admired herself, she couldn't help think how beautiful she was, because indeed, she was beautiful. At this time the Creator sent a giant screech owl out of the sky and it stole her reflection from the water. When she looked again, she had no reflection. This was the punishment the Creator put upon her. When an Iroquois mother gives a doll to her child, she tells them this legend. It is wrong to think you are better than any else, for Creator has given each of us a special gift. http://www.orgsites.com/fl/daughters/

Relatives, Three directions are seen to offer us reflection and refractive properties. Think of a diagonal line running through the center, offering us light and shadow. Three sides of light we see in a triangle. And three sides of shadow/sound we sea (sonar sight, feeling). This is why spiritual practice helps relieve inside (buffalo robe in four directions), to allow harmonious outside (buffalo robe in four directions).
Four Directions offer us a field, representing Rainbow Mother and her children of the Clan whom flow through her.
Rainbow Clan is All my Relations including rocks (dust), bugs, animals, plants and man who dew. We bow to this living breathing world that vines down deep and rises high to touch the sky. These are the tales of the three, fundamentally.
Our family consisting of 3 yellow or gold is the path of to and fro, the sacred dance between dreaming seen and unseen, walking towards. Here/hear the dance of the heartbeat teaches us the Morning Star, 8 directions where the holy eagle flies. Love lights up our eyes, both walking (outside red road of fire, color waves) and talking (inside blue road of sound).
When we walk towards and grow/vine/entwine/bind) unite dreams and broken hearts. We find ultimate happiness when our dreams are fulfilled with each other.
Yellow Chief says, "I accept this challenge".
Aho (may your spirit fly) and over the Rainbow. White Buffalo Calf Woman doles, thus rolls.

Yes Sister Teresa Saluzzi, good stories in stead. Wanted to honor your beautiful painting. Love you. Happy Holidays with lots of prayers, singing and dancing. All my Relations, And let us remember to scold (children and men, sisters stuck in sin) those who need guidance, because the holy buffalo robe (four directions in colors) helps us find our waves when cooperation shines and paves our windy road. Blessings, songs and dance beat the drum of love. It is not lost, only hidden behind the shiny (4 directions outside buffalo robe). Love of humility (4 directions inside buffalo robe), the bow at the hoops gifts us equality. I bow and send blessings, Your devoted constantly in song Sister, Lakota daughter. Gratitude fills our hearts with joy every day, bringing us sustenance to go out and play. To bee (impossible flight of a dream) good children who know our way. Glory for another brand new day. Joy has arisen to fill our hearts again, the gratitude of the wind. The sky that holds us so close to the air, where God does blow in the winds. Let us walk into green grass fields, where the sun rises to tarry along, to offer us the night sky, to bellow the song to the stars. Here we know where we belong, where the "Cloud People" show us the way!
